About Us
Our company name, Olea LUMIS, combines the Latin words Olea, meaning olive, and LUMIS, meaning light. Together, the name reflects our mission to illuminate spaces with the timeless beauty of ancient olive trees, honoring nature’s artistry and the enduring light of craftsmanship
At Olea LUMIS, we create lighting that transcends function, becoming works of art that illuminate both spaces and souls.
Each piece is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, hand-sculpted from centuries-old olive tree branches, harvested from the ancient groves of Puglia, Italy. We carefully select and craft each branch, ranging from 200 to over 1,000 years old, ensuring no two are ever alike.
Harvested during the new moon between October and April, when the wood is at its driest, our lamps embody a rare blend of history and artistry and feature the precise GPS coordinates of the grove from which they originated—offering you an exclusive connection to the geography and history of our products.
Olive groves in Puglia
In Puglia, Italy, olive harvesting is a tradition rooted in over two thousand years of history. This sun-drenched region, with its fertile soil and mild Mediterranean climate, is home to some of the world’s oldest olive trees, many dating back to the Roman era and beyond. For generations, Puglian families have carefully tended these ancient groves, honoring time-honored methods to produce the highest quality olive wood and oil. Harvesting typically occurs between October and April, a period when the trees are pruned to maintain their health and vigor.
